Winnie's pups are now 1 week old and thriving
One-week-old puppies are very dependent on their mother and are still developing in many ways, including:
Weight Gain,
Puppies will double their weight in their first week, and you should see daily weight gain. You can use a digital scale to track their progress.
Sleep and feeding
Puppies spend most of their time sleeping and feeding. Their mother will lick their bottoms to stimulate them to go to the bathroom.
Movement
Puppies can't walk yet, but they may start crawling around.
Eyes and ears
Puppies are born blind and deaf, but their eyes will start to open around 10–14 days old.
Temperature regulation
Puppies can't regulate their body temperature, so they need to be kept warm. The whelping box should be around 29–32°C at first, and you can gradually lower the temperature each week
Socialisation
Once they're physically able, puppies will start to socialise with their littermates and other household members
